IN A COUNTRY WITH 7,107 ISLANDS, HOW DO YOU HELP THE POOR PEOPLE SEE BETTER?
Cataract Foundation Philippines, Incorporated held another free cataract surgery for the less fortunate and without Philhealth benefits through the cooperation and sponsored by Mayor Nonong M. Ricafrente, Vice Mayor Voltaire V. Ricafrente & the Sangguniang Bayan Members.
This Surgical Mission was held at Casa Hacienda in Tejeros Convention in Rosario, Cavite last 14 & 15 of December 2013 and it was a very successful operation. All of them were passed the screening and received its initial treatment to be prepared for the surgery. The first batch with 20 cataract and 5 people who has a “pugita” (pterygium) problems on their eyesight received an operation through the help of the people from the Cataract Foundation Philippines, Incorporated now enjoying their new clear and crisp vision with the aid of the main person who performed the operation, Dr. Mario Reyes. On the second day of event, the second batch are also undergo surgery through the care of Dr. Reyes. The operation started almost noon after the list has been completed and the surgery lasted until the last patient has been administered and operated (almost 5:30am the following day, Sunday).

At around 6:30 AM, patients arrived by the couples.
SWA personnel who participated the event started to take list of the patients.

Doctor’s assistants and Nurses are now preparing for the screening and instruments to be used.
One by one, the patients are being checked-up and refraction-examined.
Doctor Reyes were checking the patients’ list for eye screening and operation.
A female senior citizen being taken for refraction test for the lens to be used.
First batch of 20 cataract patients, some are senior citizens are lined up for their screening.
Doctor Reyes prioritize this handicapped person to be the first person for the operation.
The Doctor gives instructions to the Nurse for the operation procedure.
Almost 8:30 PM. Other patients eagerly waited for the fist patients to come out.
The first (handicapped) patient after his surgery given instructions of DO’s and DON’T’s while on recovering period of at least two months.
Second patient guided by her companion-relative also given instructions.
Third patient also received the eye-drop solutions while listens for the recovery instructions.
